There’s nothing quite like pulling a bubbling, golden cake out of the oven – especially when it took almost no effort to make. This Cheats Blueberry Cake is one of those recipes that feels like a secret weapon. It’s made with just three ingredients and requires no whisking, no mixing bowls, and absolutely no stress. If you can open a can and a box, you can make this dessert – and trust me, it tastes far better than it has any right to for something this easy.
What I love about this recipe is how beautifully it comes together. The blueberry pie filling bakes into the perfect fruity base – warm, jammy, and full of that deep berry sweetness. Then, the dry cake mix transforms in the oven, creating a buttery, crumbly topping that’s crisp on the outside and soft underneath. The slices of butter melt right into the cake mix, giving every bite that rich, homemade flavor without lifting a finger.
It’s the kind of bake that’s perfect for last-minute guests or a cozy Sunday treat. You don’t even need to worry about presentation – it’s rustic and charming just as it is. Serve it straight from the dish, warm from the oven, with a dusting of powdered sugar on top. I love to add a scoop of vanilla ice cream that melts slightly into the warm berries or a spoonful of whipped cream for something a little lighter.
And while it’s delicious made exactly as written, you can easily swap the filling for other flavors too – think cherry, apple, or peach pie filling. The method stays the same, and the result is always foolproof.
So, if you’ve got a spare can of pie filling and a box of cake mix sitting in your pantry, this is your sign to give it a try. It’s comfort food in its easiest, most delicious form – and once you taste it, you’ll never look at boxed cake mix the same way again.
