Beef and French Onion Biscuit Pie

winter warming dish

This is literally French onion soup in a pie! Flaky biscuits are the perfect topping making this a truly hearty dish.

This beef and french onion biscuit pie is the kind of dinner everyone looks forward to. It is cozy, filling, and ready fast. The whole dish comes together in about 35 minutes, which makes it perfect for busy evenings. You brown the beef, stir in the soup, and let the oven do the rest. Even better, you can prep the filling earlier in the day and bake it later.

The real magic comes from the condensed french onion soup. It adds deep onion flavor without extra effort. Combined with browned beef, it creates a rich and savory base. The mozzarella melts right into the filling, making every bite creamy and satisfying. It tastes like french onion soup, but heartier and more comforting. Think classic soup flavors, turned into a scoopable, family style pie.

What really sets this dish apart is the biscuit topping. Buttermilk biscuits bake up golden and flaky right on top of the bubbling filling. They soak up just enough sauce underneath while staying crisp on top. Each spoonful gives you tender beef, cheesy filling, and fluffy biscuit together. It is comfort food done right.

This is a great recipe for casual family dinners or relaxed weekends. It also works well when you need something reliable and crowd pleasing. Serve it straight from the pie dish with a simple green salad. Steamed green beans or roasted broccoli are also great on the side. The flavors are rich, so lighter sides balance the meal nicely.

Leftovers reheat well and make an excellent lunch the next day. Just cover and warm in the oven until hot. If you want to switch things up, try adding sautéed mushrooms or a sprinkle of thyme. The base recipe is forgiving and easy to adapt.

If you love cozy dinners that feel special without extra work, this one is for you. Save it for chilly nights, busy weeks, or anytime comfort food is calling.
