Who would have guessed that humble tater tots could turn into something this good? These Smashed Tater Tot Crostini prove that comfort food can also be incredibly elegant. Each crispy little base is smashed flat and baked until perfectly golden, then topped with sticky onion jam and slices of sharp cheddar that melt just enough to get gooey. It’s the kind of snack that makes people stop mid-conversation to say, “What is this?!”
The real secret to this recipe is the contrast – salty, crunchy tots with that sweet jam and tangy cheese. It’s everything you want in a bite-sized appetizer: flavor, texture, and just a little indulgence. You can make the onion jam ahead of time (or grab your favorite jar), so when guests arrive, all you need to do is assemble and serve.
I love how these look on a serving board – simple, rustic, and absolutely irresistible. They’re perfect for casual dinners, game nights, or holiday gatherings when you want something quick but memorable. They taste like your favorite pub snack got a fancy upgrade.
